If you have worn out bearings on your machine, boring is a cost-effective method of restoring the holes to their original size. With chip-breaking machining, the diameter of an existing hole is increased by a rotating cutter.
Boring usually refers to older machines specifically designed to increase the diameter of an existing hole by cutting.
Our mobile drills have a superior performance. With high removal rates, easy-to-handle design and flexible mounting brackets, most jobs are completed quickly. The working range extends from Ø65-3000 mm.
How is the drilling done?
Drilling is used for many different applications but the method we describe here is based on an excavator bucket where you have several bearing positions that are in line with each other. The advantage of boring in this scenario is that you process all the bearing positions in the same clamping of the boring mill.
The first step is to install the swivel bearings of the boring mill on the outside of the damaged bearing positions to be bored.
The next step is to insert the boring bar and adjust the swivel bearings so the boring bar is centered in the bearing positions.
The damaged bearing position is then turned to the desired dimension.
The result is perfectly aligned bearing positions and hence the method is also referred to as line boring.
Drilling applications.
Drilling is used when you have multiple holes to line on small and large applications.
Example of use:
Rudderstock on ships
Buckets on crawler excavators
Waist steering on e.g. dump trucks.
Rolling mills on industrial sites
Machining of crankshaft bearings on engines
Gripping claws on lifting devices
