Cutting and jointing of pipes etc.

Cutting of pipes and jointing of pipe ends.

If you are replacing a component in a pipe system or need to replace an entire pipe system, mobile machining with cutting and joint preparation is a good method, especially if the pipes are thick-walled.
Our openable machines of the Split Frame type use a cold method that is both cleaner and quieter than the angle grinder.
You also get a properly designed joint preparation according to WPS, which is a great advantage today with higher and higher demands on welds.
The cutting and joint preparation machines are powered by electricity, compressed air or hydraulics, which means that you can choose the optimal motors for the task at hand.

Cutting and joint preparation is one of our most common jobs that we perform for our customers.

During audits and maintenance stops at our nuclear power plants and refineries, we often cut out pipe systems that need to be replaced for some reason. It may be that they are worn or that the systems are to be rebuilt.
Always when you have cut out a pipe and are going to build on a new one, the existing pipe ends must be joint prepared before they are welded together with something new, some call this job pipe milling.
Pipe milling or joint preparation as we usually call it is mainly carried out with two types of machines, joint preparation with internal clamping and joint preparation with external clamping. You choose the joint preparation machine according to your needs.

Jointing machine, pipe cutter, you name it, they do the same job.

Joint preparation of pipes can be carried out in many ways, some still run e.g. manually with angle grinder.
The joint preparation method we advocate is with joint preparation machines from Protem, which has a large range of different types of machines for both cutting and joint preparation.
In the picture to the right, we have first cut off a pressure cap and then the surface is re-jointed. Both cutting and jointing are performed with the same machine in the same clamping and the machine we use here is a Protem TTNG which is of the “split frame” type.
Working with these machines does not require hot work as this is classified as cold working.
